Target Audience: Pre-certified Interpreters
Description: Responding effectively to ethical scenarios under the constraints of a high stakes exam can be a challenge. This 4-hour intensive workshop is geared to assist participants in their preparation for the interview portion of the NIC Exam. Participants will review the structure of this portion of the exam and learn strategies for composing comprehensive, yet concise, responses to the ethical interview vignettes. The workshop will be lecture and discussion based with opportunities for participants to engage in hands-on exercises. For pre-certified interpreters only.
Katherine Walley NIC Master, has a B. A. degree in Psychology and a B.A. in Theatre Studies, from Swarthmore College, and studied Sign Language interpreting at Union County College in New Jersey and LaGuardia Community College. She has over 10 years of interpreting experience. She has extensive experience working for educational institutions in both K-12 and collegiate environments. She is an instructor for the LaGuardia ASL-English Interpretation Program’s NIC test preparation series.
